Puri: Vigilance sleuths Tuesday arrested Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) Laxmi Priya Sahoo for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a beneficiary to issue a fund of Rs 20,000 under the Biju Pakka Ghar Yojana (BPGY). Laxmi is a GRS of Kulasekhar Patana area under Pipili block of Puri district.
According to vigilance officials, Laxmi had demanded a bribe Rs 2,000 to pass the amount from Sipu Swain, a resident of Baragarh village.
Swain then informed the Vigilance team regarding the development. A trap was laid and the sleuths caught Laxmi red-handed while she was receiving the money from Swain. The money taken as bribe was also seized by the officials.
Laxmi has been taken into custody and an investigation has been launched.
It may be mentioned here that Vigilance sleuths, in another similar incident September 25, had arrested cashier Ajay Kumar Sejapada belonging to rural development division office at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district for accepting bribe from a contractor.
The cashier had demanded a bribe of Rs 14,000 from a contractor to pass his bills. The contractor, however, chose to inform the Vigilance Department. The sleuths laid a trap and caught Ajay red-handed while he was receiving the money.
