Vigilance sleuths track down 60 plots owned by junior engineer in Deogarh district

Deogarh: Separate teams of Vigilance sleuths Monday carried out simultaneous raids at different locations by acting on a number of allegations framed against junior engineer Bikash Kumar Behera.

Behera works as a gram panchayat technical assistant (GPTA) at Tileibani block in Deogarh district. The simultaneous searches were conducted over the charge of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, a senior Vigilance official stated.

According to the source, as many as 60 plots, a four-wheeler, cash of around Rs 1 lakh and a two-storey building located at Balam village under Barkote tehsil in Deogarh district have been detected by the Vigilance officials, so far. The house searches are still underway at three places in Deogarh district, the Vigilance official expressed.

Three separate teams were formed for the purpose, which comprised four Vigilance DSPs, two Inspectors and subordinate staff. The raids were carried out on the strength of a Search Warrant issued by the Court of Special Vigilance Judge, Sambalpur, the official added.
