Village road gets fenced, residents seek admin intervention

Chhendipada:  Residents of Baramalihasahi of Patrapada panchayat under Chhendipada block in Angul district have approached the administration seeking a new road for their village after their existing route was blocked recently.

According to villagers, some of the villagers of Pipalbahal village have put up a fence across their village road effectively blocking it.

Residents alleged that Baramalihasahi villagers have not been able to move outside since past three days. This has not only affected the emergency services, but also supplies and education of village kids.

Villagers Thursday registered a complaint with Chhendipada tehsildar seeking his intervention to lift the fence else provide an alternate route.

According to the complaint, till three days ago, the villagers had been using a path laid out through a field to move out of the village. However, their movement was restricted after the owner of the land and villagers of Pipalbahal put up a fence there.

While students were not able to go to their schools, villagers also could not go out of their village.

The affected villagers have warned to take to streets if their concern was not addressed. Chhendipada police, meanwhile, visited the village and returned after conducting an inquiry Thursday.
