Gondia: Irate residents of Kokeida village detained a police ASI, four other personnel and their jeep late Sunday night and into the wee hours of Monday over construction of a boiler farm. They alleged that the police have failed to stop the construction of the farm in close vicinity of their village under Gondia police limits in Dhenkanal district.
The dispute over the construction of the farm had been continuing for the past few days. In order to stop the farm’s staff from entering its premises, the residents of the village had destroyed an access road.

On being informed, a police team patrolling the area reached the village Sunday night. When the team questioned the villagers about the dispute, it triggered resentment among the residents and they entered into altercation with the cops. Later, locals detained the five police personnel.
Senior police officials of Gondia station reached Kokeida village Monday morning to rescue the detained team.
Local SDPO and Gondia police station IIC were trying to convince the villagers by promising action over the disputed issue. However, till the time of filing this report, the detained policemen have not been released.
