Cuttack: The villagers caught two thieves while they were trying to loot shops at Goudagopa village near Mahanga in Cuttack district.
At least four burglars reached Goudagopa Bazaar Monday night. Later, they broke into a grocery shop of Batakrushna Samal and cycle shop of Bairagi Samal in the market. However, some traders spotted them and nabbed two thieves.
After recovering the stolen items, the traders thrashed the two.
Mahanga Police reached the spot Tuesday morning and rescued them.
The police have launched an investigation.
