Bahanaga: Fed up with the negligence of local administration despite repeated pleas, villagers of Talakaranja under Baripada panchayat in Bahanaga block of Balasore district planted paddy saplings on a road leading up to their village.
The villagers said that the administration has been informed of their perennial issue many a times but to no avail.
Gojeswarpada-Uparakaranjabindha village road is covered under Pradhan Mantri Gramya Sadak Yojna. While a large part of this road has been constructed, a 40-metre stretch has been left out owing to encroachment. Even though the administration was notified about the issue, no action was taken on the complaint forcing the contractor to leave out that portion of the road unattended.
Waterlogging has become a common occurrence on that stretch giving commuters a harrowing time on that road.
The protestors demanded proper drainage system to be built at the site along with road construction and urged the administration to ensure the road is free from encroachment.
