Bhograi: Hundreds of angry villagers from eight villages including women have demanded police action and arrest of a miscreant who was threatening to circulate a video of a college girl and her friend in which some miscreants had tortured the duo and undressed the girl.
Local residents have expressed resentment over the police apathy in the incident involving harassment of a girl student and her friend on Bhograi beach last month.
According to sources, some miscreants had allegedly tortured the girl and her friend and forcibly stripped her before making a video of the incident.
Later, the accused tried to blackmail the couple by threatening to make the video viral on social media platforms.
Angered over the police failure to nab the accused, several villagers from Huguli, Gochhidateghari and Sahabajipur gathered at a Helipad Tuesday and demanded that police nab drug peddlers and act against alcohol proliferation, bike racing on beach and provide safety to tourists on the beach.
The villagers have warned of stir if police fail to take action against the culprits within seven days.
The police, however, had arrested accused Tapas Mandal earlier. But members of Janajiban Surakhya Manch have been agitating over the incident and demanding arrest of all the accused.
