Viral leave application: Constable gets five days’ leave in pursuit of ‘potential’ bride

Leave application and its ratification by the superiors at times become dicey for an employee. Especially, if one works in essential services like police, getting day-offs is a tough nut to crack.

However, a viral leave application is doing rounds on social media for an uncommon reason. The best thing is, the employee was granted day-offs based on the viral leave application.

A letter circulated on social media in which a police constable from  India’s Uttar Pradesh requested a five-day leave to meet with a potential bride for marriage. The incident took place in the Kanpur district’s Farrukhabad region.

The letter goes like this,

“Please be informed that the applicant’s father has informed the applicant through telecommunications that he intends to visit prospective brides on the applicant’s behalf. The applicant has been employed in the police force for nearly three years now and has not yet entered into wedlock. Moreover, suitable matrimonial proposals for those working in police are also scarce. Therefore, the applicant has encountered significant difficulty in finding a suitable match.

Furthermore, the applicant’s age for marriage is approaching its final stages. Hence, the applicant respectfully requests you to kindly grant an unplanned leave of five days, commencing from September 3, 2023. Your benevolent consideration of this request would be greatly appreciated.”

As per the viral application, Constable Raghav Chaturvedi, who is a resident of Agra’s Shahganj area, is posted at Paanchalghat Chowki. Constable Chaturvedi said that if he honestly communicates his predicament to the officers, there should be no issues.

Notably, the constable’s superior granted him five days leave thus, allowing him to meet his potential bride.

This letter is now going viral on social media. The constable’s family members are now very happy and are comfortably looking for a bride.
