Would you ever pay a fortune for a snack? Well, someone just did!
A single Flamin’ Hot Cheeto that looks like Pokémon’s Charizard has sold for a jaw-dropping $88,000 (around Rs 77 lakh) at an auction. Dubbed “Cheetozard,” this quirky snack has taken the internet by storm, making waves in viral news as Pokémon fans and collectors go crazy over it.
The auction happened on Goldin, an online marketplace, where the three-inch-long Cheeto was mounted on a custom Pokémon card and sealed in a clear storage box—almost like a rare trading card! It started with a modest bid of $250 (Rs 22,000) in February, but things escalated quickly. After 60 bids, a lucky (and very rich) buyer snagged it for $72,000 (Rs 63 lakh). But with additional fees, the final price shot up to a whopping $87,840, as reported by PEOPLE Magazine.
Goldin hyped up the sale on Instagram, posting, “CHEETOZARD FINAL SALE! Final Sale Price on the ‘Cheetozard’ – Pokémon Charizard-Shaped Cheeto – 3″: $87,840.” The post quickly gained traction, adding to the viral news surrounding this bizarre yet fascinating sale.
Surprisingly, Cheetozard isn’t new. It was actually discovered between 2018 and 2022 by 1st & Goal Collectables, a memorabilia store in Georgia, USA. The owners had kept it locked away in a safe and almost forgot about it—until a cleaning session in 2024 brought it back into the spotlight. When they posted about it on Instagram in April 2024, the internet went wild, and offers started pouring in. The snack’s comeback became a trending topic in viral news, drawing attention from both collectors and casual social media users.
