A throwback picture of Akshay Kumar and his former love Shilpa Shetty is going viral on social media. The photo uploaded by a fan on his Instagram account has garnered huge number of likes.
It is a known fact that Akshay was seeing Shilpa Shetty after his break-up with Raveen Tandon. However, he ditched her and went to marry Twinkle Khanna.
In an interview in 2000, Shilpa had accused Akshay of taking her for a ride. Of course, they have put their bitter break-up behind them and are on excellent terms now, but it has taken a while to get here.
Shilpa said, “I never imagined that he could two-time me, and that too all along our relationship,” she said. Shilpa maintained that she holds no grudges against Twinkle and said, “No, I’m not at all upset with her. What’s her fault if my man was cheating on me? There is no point blaming any other woman, it was entirely his fault.”
Love blossomed between Akshay and Shilpa during the making of their film, Main Khiladi Tu Anari. The smitten actors had a much-publicised relationship, and even more public break-up.
She rued, “Akshay Kumar used me and conveniently dropped me after he found someone else. The only person, I was upset with, was him. But I’m sure he’ll get it all back. It’s not easy to forget the past so soon, but I’m glad I’ve had the strength to move on. Today, he’s a forgotten chapter as far as I’m concerned. I will never work with him again.”
Incidentally, Twinkle revealed on Karan Johar’s chat show that her relationship with Akshay started off as a fling. She had just come out of a long relationship and decided that a no-strings-attached fling would be the best thing at that point. “And there he was, six feet of chocolate ice-cream. So I decided, I am going to have a fling with him and it’s going to last 15 days,” Twinkle said.
However, fortunately, things did not go according to plan, and today, Akshay and Twinkle have been blissfully married for over 17 years.
