Viral video: Dust storm at Chennai’s Marina beach leaves internet shocked

Chennai: In a viral video that is doing rounds on the internet, a dust storm can be seen taking over the places near Chennai’s Marina beach. The storm created panic among locals. However, it dissipated after some time, giving relief to them.

Like any other day, local vendors Monday installed their shops near Chennai’s Marina Beach, but to their surprise, a storm came at around 10pm along with the gusts of sweeping sand and dust.

Pictures and videos of the incidents are being circulated all over the internet.

Sharing a video of the incident on X (formerly Twitter) a user named Satyamurthy Nageswaran wrote, “Tornado in Marina beach in Chennai Yesterday.”

Another X user named Dhinu shared another clip of the sand storm and wrote, “BREAKING: Sand cyclone spotted in Marina beach.”

According to the World Meteorological Organisation, sand and dust storms usually occur when strong winds lift large amounts of sand and dust from bare, dry soils into the atmosphere.
