Baripada: Two constables had to pay a heavy price for being sozzled under the influence of alcohol in Mayurbhanj district.
Mayurbhanj superintendent of police Parmar Smith Purusottam Das suspended Kartik Chandra Patra and Kamal Mahanta, the two constables posted at Badasahi police station.
The SP’s move came following a video that went viral in social media some days ago showing the two constables in an inebriated state.
In the viral video, a drunken cop can be seen being not able to drive his car and losing control. He then calls in his friend to help him out. Minutes later, another constable, riding a bullet motorcycle, appears in the scene. He can also be seen in an inebriated state. While alighting from the bike, he falls down along with the bike, shattering the mirror into pieces.
The two cops are then seen attempting to lift the bullet in vain. Taking pity on the cops, some local youths came forward to help the drunk cops.
It was when the video went viral that it got flooded with comments suggesting people’s displeasure and anger.
