VISUALLY-IMPAIRED EXCEL IN CLASS X

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Board of Secondary Education Monday announced the results of Class X board examinations held in February. About 2, 16, 305 boys cleared Class X board examination while 2, 22,043 girls passed the test with flying colours. Unfortunately, 36 schools have reported zero results. But, the Bhima Bhoi School for the Blind scored 100 per cent results in the board examinations. All the 13 students of Bhima Bhoi School had taken the exam and have succeeded. Speaking toOrissa POST, headmaster Gauranga Charan Patra said, “Out of 13 examinees, six secured A2, four students B1 grade, two secured B2 and one obtained grade D.” “The results are far better than previous year’s. However, six students would have made it to A1 had they done better in social stud
ies. Anyway, it is a proud moment for us as all our 13 students have cleared the examinations with good percentage. The results will certainly encourage the upcoming students to put in their best for the examinations,” Patra added.
Soumya Sweta Behera has become the school topper this year by securing 533 marks out of 600. Soumya who was elated over her results thanked her teachers for their selfless support. “I am visually impaired, but I never con
sider my vision as my weakness. Hard work and my teachers’ support helped me score well,” Behera said. Two students – Om Prakash Mohapatra and Sudam Chandra Sahoo – have scored 525 each.
