Visually-impaired youth barred from ASO exam

Mathuranagari (Bargarh): A visually-impaired youth despite having an identity card was barred from appearing for the assistant section officer’s examination conducted by Odisha Public Services Commission at the Bargarh Women’s College Sunday.

Tekdhar Kushal, son of Birabar Kushal, of Khaliapali near here has completed graduation and undergone computer training. He had applied for the examination and received the identity card but was not allowed to sit when he insisted to allow a person as his assistant to write the paper as per provisions.

The invigilators refused to allow this citing that they have not received any communication regarding such provision for the visually-impaired.

Tekdhar, his father and brother made fervent pleas to allow him appear for the examination but the invigilators refused.
