Keonjhar: Basant Kumar Behera, a former Village Level Worker (VLW) of Maidankala Gram Panchayat in Keonjhar district, was sentenced to four years of imprisonment after he was found guilty in a graft case.
The Keonjhar Special Vigilance Court also slapped the convict with a fine of Rs 10,000 under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
According to reports, Behera was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant Sahadev Mahanta.
Behera had demanded the bribe from Mahanta to engage the latter in the work under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.
