Bhubaneswar: Vice President Venkaiah Naidu arrived here at Biju Patnaik International Airport Sunday 10:15am in a special Air Force aircraft called ‘Rajdoot’.
Governor Ganeshi Lal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik received Naidu at the airport.
He left directly for KIIT to chair the 39th World Congress of Poets there. He will have his lunch at Raj Bhawan and at 3:00pm he will attend a programme at Cuttack and thereafter fly back to Delhi at 4:00pm.
For the Vice President’s visit, the Commissionerate of Police has thrown out a security blanket in the twin cities. As many as 15 platoons of police force have been deployed and 100 officers have been entrusted with the job of looking after the security arrangements. Security arrangements have been beefed off at the BPIA.
A mock drill from Airport to KIIT and from there to Raj Bhawan was practiced Saturday with seven vehicles including jammar van, ambulance, fire engine, medical team’s van and bullet proof van in the carcade.
According to DCP Akhilesh Singh, normal traffic would be kept out of bound as the stretch from Sikharpur to Indoor stadium would be sealed during the Vice President’s visit to Cuttack.
