VSS deaths: Atanu demands probe report by Thursday

Bhubaneswar, April 13: The state government Monday directed Director Medical Education and Training (DMET), probing into the death of three pregnant women who died after Caesarean section at the VSS Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR), to submit reports by Thursday.
The probe committee of DMET after concluding its probe on the incident arrived Monday following which a meeting was convened by the Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in the presence of other concerned officials of health department.
During the meeting the health minister asked the probe agency to expedite the process of filing its investigation report and asked it to submit it by Thursday. Appropriate action would be taken by the state government after the submission of the report, said Nayak. The meeting was attended by the Health secretary, Director Medical Education and Training (DMET) and other senior officials.
Notably, the three pregnant women, who had undergone caesarian surgery last Friday evening, died late in the night. Nine surgeries took place in the gynecology department on that day. As part of the inquiry, Director Medical Education and Training (DMET) BC Das visited the hospital and discussed with Institute Director Sunamali Bag and other senior doctors.
