Sambalpur: The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, is organising a National Hackathon during its annual Techno-Management Fest. The event, Samavesh, is scheduled for February 15, 16 and 17, 2019.
Hackathon is an event lasting several hours and includes makers and innovators who come together to solve the problem statements given at the event.
The VSSUT National Hackathon will be connected to the domains of Agriculture, Healthcare, Energy, Business and Social Innovations.
The event will be a 36-hour one and would require participants to create a prototype based on their own topic. They would be provided with the required resources.
VSSUT will provide state of the art workspaces and laboratories to all participants for rapid prototyping and development of proof of concepts.
The best projects would be awarded a prize of Rs 2 lakh, and mentorship and incubation offers to scale up and commercialise.
The VSSUT National Hackathon was inaugurated at the 10th Convocation of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology by Prof. Ganeshi Lal, the Chancellor and Governor of Odisha, Prof. Atal Chaudhuri, Vice-Chancellor and chief guest Dr Birendra Chauhan, the Executive Chairman of NAAC in the presence of Deans, HoDs and students. The official video trailer and website was also launched at the event.
The Governor formally authorised the declaration stating, “National Hackathon, I declare it open.”
VSSUT projects like the VSSUT Satellite Launch Vehicle (VSLV) and Rice Transplanter by the Idea Innovation Cell, 3D Printer by the Robotics Society, were displayed at the event.
The National Hackathon will be organised jointly by the Entrepreneurship Cell in association with the Idea Innovation Cell, Robotics Society & VSSUT SAE (Veers Racing and Veer Racers).
