Sambalpur: Former VSSUT student Chinmayi Priyadarshini Sahoo died due to drowning, police said Saturday quoting the diatom report.
Diatom test is performed to ascertain whether the cause of death is drowning in water or not. Earlier the post-mortem report had also suggested that drowning led to Chinmayi’s death.
Now, police await the result of the viscera report – a report prepared to determine the cause of death under suspicious circumstances where autopsies are unconvincing.
It can be mentioned here that Chinmayee came from her native place –Madanpur Rampur in Kalahandi district — to VSSUT February 28 for the convocation ceremony to obtain her degree. Later, she went to the Power Channel bridge with a male friend where she allegedly jumped off the bridge.
Police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and launched a search operation. They found her body March 1.
Burla police March 4 carried out lie detection or polygraph tests on Chinmayi’s two male friends — Pritiman Dey and Manas Tudu — at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bhubaneswar in connection with the suspicious death.
