Bhubaneswar: The Swasthya Adhikar Forum (Health Rights Campaign Group), Odisha launched Peoples Health Campaign at Hotel Sutrupti, Unit-IV here Sunday.
Looking at the forthcoming general election, the Forum will travel whole of Odisha in three phases. The 1st Phase of the campaign envisaged to influence the manifesto at all party level, the 2nd phase would be emphasising citizen/voter awareness and in the 3rd phase it is involving CSO, Media and other key state actors to track the manifesto and progress thereby.
The consultation will be organised with the collaborative effort of the different organisations and networks working on health issues which affect the day to day life of the communities. The civil society group in consultation with the people’s organisations in the villages has designed manifesto and influencing in different ways with parties and candidates on the issues of health. Number of civil society organisations, development practitioners and thinkers, media representatives are invited to participate in the consultation.
Gouranga Mohapatra, a health activist and member of forum said, “We will look at the health scenario of the state and how much government health scheme is implemented.”
“The campaign survey will be sent to the government,” he said adding that the Forum would demand the government to implement free health service for the poor.
