Weather alert August 23: Thunderstorm, heavy rainfall on cards as IMD issues Yellow Warning for 23 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar in its weather alert of August 23 issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorm and heavy rainfall for several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of August 24: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurda and Puri districts.

The weather agency also said that heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Deogarh, Boudh, Cuttack, Malkangiri and Koraput districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

From 8.30 AM of August 24 to 8.30 AM of August 25: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri and Ganjam districts.

The weather agency also said that heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Angul, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north Odisha and at many places over the districts of south Odisha.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, rain or thundershower is expected to occur towards afternoon or evening. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 34 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 35.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Paralakhemundi while the lowest minimum temperature of 23.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Angul, the weather alert of August 23 informed.
