Bhubaneswar: The Olympic Channel – International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) only official internet television has featured Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand and her long-drawn legal battle story with the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) in the second episode of its web series ‘Foul Play’.
Dutee, won the landmark legal battle at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) few months back challenging the verdict of gender verification tests for female athletes who have hyperandrogenism. She is currently preparing herself for the Asian Games in Jakarta and also for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The 23-minute video shows Dutee’s struggle against all odds to pursue her passion for running and bringing glory for the country. It also shows Dutee talking about her innermost feelings of dejection and humiliation when her image as a woman and an athlete were questioned.
The video also showcases the saga of Indian field and track athlete Santhi Soundarajan from Tamil Nadu who was stripped of her silver medal from the 2006 Asian Games after failing a gender test that declared that she did not possess characteristics of a woman.
The documentary has already been screened at various film festivals around the globe and has received critical appreciation from many quarters.
