Western disturbance to trigger rain

Bhubaneswar: Rain is likely to lash several parts of western Odisha in the next 24 hours, said Regional Meteorological Centre duty officer RK Nayak, Friday.

He said several places of Odisha will experience rain under the influence of a western weather disturbance. As per the latest forecast of the Met centre, the western disturbance has now reached Jammu & Kashmir area from the Mediterranean Sea and moving towards Assam. Besides, a cyclonic circulation has also formed over eastern Bihar.

Several districts including Sundargarh, Bargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Nuapada will experience rain from Friday onwards. “There will also be rainfall in parts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and coastal Odisha in next 24 hours,” said Nayak.

The rain may bring down the temperature by at least three Degrees Celsius. The north westerly winds will continue to flow towards Odisha and the intensity of cold will increase further, the official added.

Earlier, the Meteorological department had issued an intense fog warning for Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts.
