Bhubaneswar: Several places of Western Odisha are reeling under intense heat wave conditions with day temperature hovering above 40 degree Celsius.
According to local weather office, Titilagarh was the hottest place in the state Wednesday with day temperature of 42.5 degree Celsius, followed by Malkangiri (41.6) Sambalpur and Sonepur (40.2 each), and Bhawanipatna at 40 degee Celsius.
The condition in Coastal Odisha has been better as the maximum day temperature went down by several notches after rain accompanied by thunderstorm lashed several areas, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Paradip and Anugul during the last 24 hours.
The meteorology department predicted that coastal Odisha would remain comparatively cooler in comparison to western Odisha for the next couple of days.
Twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 37 and 36.4 degree Celsius Wednesday while the maximum day temperature in other parts of the state remained under 40 degree Celsius today.
