A fresh beta version of WhatsApp suggests that the popular messaging app which was acquired by social media giant Facebook is likely to have Facebook branding soon.
According to reliable WhatsApp tipster WABetaInfo, the Facebook logo can be seen in WhatsApp settings on the latest WhatsApp beta. This beta update is now available for Android phones via the Google Play Beta Program. Users can now download the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.19.331 to see the Facebook logo on the splash screen and in the settings menu.
Facebook recently unveiled the new corporate branding and is likely to use the logo across its platforms over a period of time.
The Facebook logo comes just after a beta version updated the camera icon in WhatsApp.
That said, there is still no word on when the much-demanded ‘Dark Mode’ will be rolled out to the public who don’t use the beta version. The company is yet to make any public announcements in this context. Given Facebook Messenger and Instagram, both have had the Dark Mode option for a while now, many users are surprised over the delay in WhatsApp Dark Mode launch.
WhatsApp, however, seems to have its plates full. Issues such as battery drain bug on Android phones — particularly on certain OnePlus phones, as well as Xiaomi and Google Pixel phones — obviously are far more important for the company than Dark Mode rollout.
