Bhubaneswar: Five years old White tiger ‘Subhranshu’, who was one of the major draws of Bhubaneswar based Nandankanan Zoological Park died Tuesday due to liver-related ailments.
According to veterinary officials, the white tiger passed away at 10:15am Tuesday morning. It was under treatment at the zoo by veterinary officials and experts of OUAT.
The tiger’s body has been sent for autopsy by the zoo officials.
The rare animal had stopped moving around starting October 12 leaving the zoo authorities in a fix. It was first found to be unwell September 22 when it suffered from diarrhea.
A source in the zoo had said the tiger was suffering from liver related ailments. Its health condition continued to deteriorate after October 12, despite best efforts from the zoo veterinaries.
Subhranshu was born to Royal Bengal Tiger Maneesh and white tigress Sneha July 25, 2014. There 26 tigers left in the zoo.
