Nishchintakoili: A widow committed suicide after setting her on fire at Gopinathpur village of Daudpur panchayat near Nemal in Cuttack district.
The 30-year-old Kanak Sahu’s husband was killed in an accident some days ago. She is survived by a four-year-old son.
Her mother-in-law and sister-in-law are said to be mentally challenged persons, it was learnt.
According to reports, Kanak had gone to her toilet with some sarees at 4 am. Then she apparently draped all the sarees on herself before pouring kerosene and setting ablaze. Suffering 80 per cent burn injuries, she died on the spot.
