Wife, daughter held for killing man

Malkangiri: Malkangiri police have cracked the murder of Padia Kambeda of Balkati village under Sadar police limits, and arrested his wife and daughter, SP Jagmohan Meena said.

Kambeda was missing since December 7. His nephew Ramchandra had filed a complaint with Sadar police.

A few days later some locals saw a half burnt body inside a jungle near MV-18 and alerted the police Monday. The police reached the spot, and samples taken from the body were sent to a forensic laboratory in Koraput. The police also launched an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Ramchandra alleged that Kamdeba’s wife Mude and his daughter killed him.

Police came to know that Kambeda was working as a bonded labourer in Andhra Pradesh and was staying at Surlukonda with his son. He used to often visit his house where his wife and daughter were staying, and torture them after consuming alcohol.

On the fateful day, Kambeda drank excessively and assaulted his wife and daughter, the SP said.

During interrogation, the duo admitted that they had bludgeoned Kambeda to death and then set the body afire, Meena added.

The matter was investigated by DSP Dillip Kumar Dash and IIC Soumendra Sekhar Tripathy.
