Wife ‘possessed by spirit’ says husband’s death not suicide but murder

Kendrapara: The relatives of a deceased person picketed the Marsaghai police station in Kendrapara district following revelations from his wife, who was allegedly possessed by his spirit, that her husband’s death was not a suicide but a murder.

According to the case dairy, Subodh Nayak was found hanging from an electric pole July 2 and it was termed a suicide.

However, based on the revelations from Nayak’s wife, his family members alleged that it was a murder.

Nayak’s wife, allegedly possessed by her husband’s spirit, said it was a pre-planned murder by his relative Tapan Das and aides from Badapalia village.

Local people also raised their suspicion after Tapan reportedly forced the family members to cremate the body without informing the police.

Demanding an enquiry, the villagers gheraoed the Marsaghai Police Station.

The police have registered a complaint and investigating the case with the help of a scientific team.

“We have registered a case and an investigation is underway. We can come to a conclusion only after the completion of the investigation,” Marsaghai PS IIC Kalindi Behera said.
