Bhubaneswar: After assuming office, the twin city Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty, Friday said winning the trust of the people was key to maintaining law and order in the society.
“Winning the trust of the people is vital for the police for its smooth functioning. The police will have to work in such a manner that the people will repose their faith and trust and come forward to cooperate,” he told mediapersons.
The senior Odisha cadre IPS officer of 1988 batch took charge as the sixth Police Commissioner from his predecessor and 1990 batch IPS officer YB Khurania.
Mohanty also said there a lot of challenges for the Commissionerate Police. “To effectively meet these challenges, more manpower is required. I will try my best to take up this issue with the state government,” he pointed out.
After arriving at the Commissionerate Police Headquarters here, the senior IPS officer was given the Guard of Honour. Later, he was introduced to the senior police officers of the twin cities.
