BHUBANESWAR: Teaser of the eighth season of Game of Thrones, one of the most popular TV series ever made, is finally here.
The series finale that is to be aired on April 19, 2019 is one of the most anticipated events of television history. A 59-second ‘Dragonstone’ teaser has created a lot of hype and generated a thousand queries as to what the conclusion of the series would be like.
The teaser is based on Dragonstone, the place of Daenerys Targaryen’s birth. It houses the famous ‘Painted Table’, where the whole of Westeros is depicted to facilitate battle plans. This also happens to be the place where Aegon the Conqueror planned his invasion of Westeros.
The brilliant teaser shows a wave of ice charging through the whole continent. It signifies the advancement of ‘Army of the dead’ in the continent. The teaser also highlights a frozen dragon, a sad reminder of Viserion, and a frozen direwolf representing Winterfell. However, the cold wave is confronted by another of fire taking the shape of a lion which signifies House Lannister.
A major revelation of the teaser was the place where both these waves meet. The place of confrontation seems to be The Trident. It also happens to be the place where Robert Baratheon killed Rhaegar Targaryen during his rebellion. The stage is set for a lot of exciting encounters in Season 8, which only has six episodes. All these episodes would span over an hour.
Manav Phukan, a diehard GOT fan from the city is excited and disheartened at the same time. He said, “The epic series that has been a part of people’s life since last eight years is concluding this April. Excited on what Tyrion Lannester’s stand would be if there is a war between the Houses of Targaryens and Starks.
Another fan Pratyush Kumar Dash said, “The uniqueness of GOT trailers and teasers are that they rarely give anything away. Even the most informed of fans get absolutely no clues as to what would happen in the actual episodes. However, teaser of the penultimate season reveals a lot. It is a stunning depiction of the epic battle between ‘Army of the dead’ and armies of Westeros. I can hardly control my excitement for this season.”
