Woman assaulted for questioning quality of food at Aahaar centre  

Bargarh: In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly assaulted for complaining about supply of sub-standard food at the Aahaar centre in this town, a report said.

The victim was identified as Sushree Sangita Moharana in the town. She was shooting a video of the alleged distribution of sub-standard food to people on her mobile phone when the employees of the Aahaar centre beat her up.

They also snatched away her mobile phone. The matter came to the fore after Moharana lodged a complaint at the Town police station here. Similar allegations have also come from people visiting the centre for subsidised food. Chatters were abuzz after the incident as locals demanded a thorough probe into the charges and suitable action against the culprits.

Reports said that Moharana had gone to the Aahaar centre to have a meal, Saturday. There, she found out that the employees were hesitating to distribute food to the people and misbehaving if they complain about the poor quality of food.

Subsequently, she complained about the poor quality of food being served and shot a video on her mobile phone. However, the women members of the self-help group who were in charge beat her up and snatched away her mobile phone. Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the incident.
