Woman burnt alive for resisting gangrape

Sambhal: In a shocking incident, a woman was burnt alive by four men in Pathakpur village of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh Saturday.

The victim’s husband works in Delhi. The incident occurred while the victim was with her six-year-old daughter in her house late Friday night. Taking advantage, the four accused barged in and kidnapped her. They took her to a hut nearby and tried to gangrape her. They set her on fire after they failed in their rape attempt.

After getting information, police seized the body and sent it for autopsy. However, the police have denied reports of gang-rape attempt.

Family members of the victim alleged the accused used to harass her. When the victim objected to their harassment, the accused barged into her house and kidnapped her. Later, they set her on fire, they alleged.

The victim’s family members further stated that the four villagers had earlier called them, threatening that they would kill the woman. They had tried to inform the police, but the calls were not answered.
