Balasore: Balasore police Tuesday recovered the body of a migrant woman who allegedly committed suicide at a quarantine centre in the district.
Her body was found hanging from a tree inside the premises of a quarantine centre in Jayarampur High School under Jayarampur village in the district, Tuesday night.
Sources said that the woman along with her family returned from Hyderabad June 20. She was put in quarantine at Jayarampur High School here.
The woman was behaving normally till Tuesday afternoon, sources said. The question however is whether the officials in charge of the quarantine facility were aware of any behavioral changes in the woman. They also failed to notice that the woman had gone missing for a substantial period of time.
On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and launched a probe into the matter, Wednesday. They are also trying to find out the reason as to why the woman took the drastic step. Police also blamed security personnel at the quarantine facility for the mishap.
Notably, Mayurbhanj district has reported 353 COVID-19 cases.
