Sambalpur: The woman constable, who was undergoing treatment at VIMSAR Burla after being attacked by her landlord’s son, died Wednesday.
The deceased, Rashmirekha Dixit, lived at a rented accommodation in Ainthapalli area. According to reports, the landlord’s son Sapan Chakraborty entered the constable’s house September 24, and attacked Gitirekha and her sister with a sharp weapon.
The family members rushed both of them to VIMSAR. Sapan, who was in an inebriated state, physically assaulted both of them, saying that Rashmirekha misbehaved with his uncle, according to Gitirekha. The Ainthapalli police arrested Sapan after the incident.
Rashmirekha, posted at the Town police station, was on a four-month maternity leave. She is survived by two children, including a-three-month old baby.
