Balangir: The female sub-inspector (SI) — who was undergoing treatment at the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital after her suicide attempt — went missing from the hospital under mysterious circumstances, a source said Friday.
The SI has been identified as Kajal Bag.
According to the source, Bag allegedly attempted to end her life at her rented house Wednesday night at Gopabandhu Nagar under Saintala block in Balangir district.
A local resident informed that Bag was speaking loudly over the phone with someone. Later, the Saintala police station was informed that Bag had allegedly attempted to end her life by consuming mosquito liquid.

On being informed, the police team rushed to the spot and took Bag to Saintala government hospital. She was later shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, added the source.
The exact reason why Bag attempted suicide is yet to be ascertained, however, a love affair is being suspected to be a possible reason behind it.
