Mayurbhanj: A woman delivered a baby girl in an auto-rickshaw on her way to a hospital in Rasgovindpur block in Mayurbhanj district Monday.
The woman identified as Minakhi Hembram, wife of Salakk Hembram, of Bhedisahi village under Rasgovindpur block in the district, complained of labour pain this morning.
Following this, the family members informed the village ASHA worker, who then contacted 102 ambulance service. But even after repeated attempts they failed to connect to the emergency service helpline.
With no options left, the family members called up an auto-rickshaw and took her to the hospital in Rasgovindpur. While Minakhi was on her way to the hospital, she delivered a baby girl.
On getting information, the nurses, who were present at the hospital, rushed to the vehicle and completed the delivery process.
Later, the woman and the baby were admitted to the hospital and their condition is stated to be stable, said a source.
