Woman fakes pregnancy to smuggle 5 kg marijuana inside her baby bump

Drug traffickers around the globe invent the most ingenious methods to smuggle illegal narcotics from one place to another. From putting on make-up to hiding drugs inside underwear, narcotics peddlers have tried almost everything under the sun to smuggle their goods.

But a woman from Argentina may have trumped them all. She faked pregnancy to smuggle 15 packets of marijuana weighing over 5 kg.

Argentina’s Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich took to social media to tweet pictures of the woman sporting a fake bump that she used to carry the drugs.

Bullrich wrote that the woman was caught while travelling from the city of Mendoza to Santa Cruz. The cops apprehended the woman during a raid on the coach in which she was travelling. Argentina’s major border police, the National Gendarmerie, carried out as a surprise raid Wednesday, said Bullrich.

According to a police spokesperson, the woman was accompanied by a man who was caught with one packet of cannabis on him. The authorities later found out that they were a couple.

“Two Argentinian nationals have been arrested after they were caught smuggling drugs. Officers discovered a passenger was carrying two cannabis bricks in a black bag. A young woman was beside him who appeared to be pregnant. She was asked to leave the vehicle and it was confirmed she was also carrying drugs but no baby inside her,” said the police spokesperson.
