Bhuban: A man hacked his sister-in-law to death Monday at Asurabandha village under Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district over family dispute, police said. The deceased woman has been identified as Mili Malik while the accused is Rabindra Malik.

According to locals, Mili’s husband and Rabindra had a huge argument Monday morning over some family issues. In the heat of the moment Rabindra attacked Mili’s husband with an axe. Trying to protect her husband Mili tried to intervene. However, in the process she sustained grievous injuries and succumbed due to excessive bleeding.
On being informed, police reached the spot and arrested Rabindra. Police also seized Mili’s body and sent it for post-mortem to Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital. A case was registered in this connection and the body was handed over to family members after post-mortem was conducted.
