Woman injured in crocodile attack

Kendrapara: A 55 -year old woman, Chhaila Das, the wife of Dibakar Das, a resident of Balabhadraprasad village under Rajpur GP under Rajnagar police limits Saturday sustained critical injuries when a crocodile attacked her while she was going to clean herself in a nullah behind her house.

She was rescued by the locals as she shouted for help.

The ill-fated woman sustained critical injuries in her hand and was rushed to Rajnagar CHC for treatment. As the nullah was connected with the crocodile-infested Brahmani river, it was suspected that the salt water crocodile might have sneaked from the river to the nullah.

Notably, man-reptile conflict in coastal pockets located on the fringes of Bhitarkanika National  Park in Kendrapara keeps happening in regular intervals.
