Balasore: Binilata Das (24) was allegedly murdered by her husband, a teacher, Friday at Kanpadabindha under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak district.
The killing is allegedly attributed to Binilata’s opposition to an extramarital affair of her husband and demand for dowry.
A complaint in this regard was lodged with the police. The complaint stated that Binilata, daughter of Kulamani Das of Muktali village, had married Nirmal Chandra Das of Kanpadabindha last year.
However, Nirmal used to have an affair with another woman despite Binilata’s strong opposition. Even the kin of Binilata had tried to convince Nirmal about the possible fallout of the affair on his conjugal life.
On the other hand, Nirmal’s family used to demand dowry from Binilata and often used to torture her. It was alleged that Binilata was murdered and hanged with her saree Friday.
However, the accused teacher claimed that Binilata committed suicide. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
