Keonjhar: A woman allegedly strangled her two sons to death and hanged herself in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, police said Tuesday.
The incident took place in Durukulia village in Champua area Monday when the woman, identified as Khyanaprabha Nayak, was alone in the house with her sons, four-year-old Johnson and two-year-old Chandan as her husband Bhimsen Nayak was out in the field, a police officer said.
When her six-year-old daughter Tapaswini returned from school, she found the door of the house locked from the inside and informed the villagers, some of who climbed the roof and removed a few tiles, only to find the woman’s body hanging from the ceiling and those of the two boys lying on the floor, he said.
The reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained and further investigation is underway, the officer said.
