Pune: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped at knifepoint by an unidentified person near a village off Mumbai-Pune Expressway, police said Wednesday. The woman was raped Tuesday afternoon informed the police. The woman, who works as a domestic help, was heading towards her home in Sainagar area when she was raped, said an officer attached to Talegaon Dabhade police station.
The victim has alleged that an unidentified person intercepted her near Gahunje village and raped her at knifepoint, he said. The man after committing the grievous act also threatened the woman with dire consequences if she went to the police.
The woman after being raped was shaken, but did not let that hinder her determination. She went back home and then with a few of her family members came to the police and lodged a complaint. Police after sending the woman for medical examination has launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Police said they are also investigating the CCTV footage of the locality.
An offence under section 376 (rape) of the IPC has been registered in this regard and the investigation is underway, the officer informed.
