Bhopal: Two persons have been arrested for forcing a woman to carry her husband on her shoulders and walk as a measure of punishment in Devigarh village of Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabuha district.
The woman was also beaten and shamed because she ran away with the man she had loved. The video of the woman being tortured and humiliated in public went viral Saturday and the police swung into action after coming to know of the incident.
The additional police superintendent of the district said that they will try to identify the others who humiliated and tortured the woman and nab them also. “We will see that the culprits are brought to book,” he stated.
The woman had run away to Gujarat, but was traced by her in-laws and husband and brought back to Devigarh two days ago. In the video it is seen that the woman struggles to walk with her husband on her shoulders. Then one person hits her with a stick while the crowd around her continues to taunt her. A couple of persons also push her while another films the entire episode.
