Woman suffering from amnesia recovers, to reunite with family soon

Koraput: A woman, who was suffering amnesia and has been staying at a short-stay home in Koraput for the last three years, has regained her memory two days back and has expressed her desire to go back to her home in Bihar.

Ruby is one of the three children of Ramji Rao and Dasmant Devi of Sehen village of Bhojpur district in Bihar. After Dasmant’s death, Ramji married for a second time.

Meanwhile Ruby also tied the nuptial knot with Chikan Ram of Sahebi village of the same district. However, after Ruby gave birth to a baby girl, things went awry. Ruby started behaving abnormally and left her home one day.

“Three years ago she was found wandering on the streets of Koraput. The District Child Welfare Committee received a call August 16, 2016 regarding Ruby and rescued her,” said an official.

“Thank God Ruby has now regained her lost memory. It gives us immense pleasure that she is going to be reunited with her family,” the official added.

The chairperson of the committee B Gayatri Devi said, “After she regained memory, she has informed us about her family details and place of stay. Her family has been contacted and they will come here to take her back home.”

Local residents are of the opinion that there are many such instances like Ruby who have failed to recover due to the lack of proper treatment and care. They could have returned to their normal lives had they got help at the right time.
