Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly slit throats of her son and daughter before attempting suicide under the influence of liquor at Sindhiguda village under Kalimela police limits in this district Thursday.
Sources said, Deba Kabasi and his wife Dangi entered into a verbal duel Thursday when the former told her that he has got married again and is bringing home his second wife.
Angered at the development, Dangi consumed a large quantity alcohol. Then in an inebriated condition she tried to end her life as well as the lives of her son Bikash and daughter Puja. She slit their throats and tried to perform the act on herself.
However, hearing the screams of the children, neighbours and Deba managed to snatch away the sharp weapon with which she had committed the act. They rushed her and the children to the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital where all the three are undergoing treatment.
While the condition of Dangi and her daughter is said to be stable, that of Bikash is critical, sources informed.
When contacted, Kalimela IIC Chandra Sekhar Sabar said no formal compliant had so far been registered at the police station. After investigation, appropriate steps would be taken,” he added.
