Woman who lost daughter in fire mishap seeks admin help in Angul

Angul: An elderly woman who lost her daughter in a fire mishap sought the intervention of the Collector to get the help offered by the block administration one month ago in Angul district.

Pramila Naik, despite her old age and frail body, Monday reached the Collector’s grievance hearing camp to lodge her complaint.

She lost her daughter in a fire accident at her house in Deunriajhari village under Chhendipada block January 10.

Her daughter Sarojini got trapped and sustained severe burn injuries. Though she had been rushed to the Angul district hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Paddy, rice clothes and other valuables were also reduced to ashes.

The block administration promised to help Pramila but she is yet to receive any relief.

According to Pramila, the authorities said they would help her in the construction of the house but apart from a polythene sheet she didn’t get any help from the administration.

Her family is presently taking shelter in a school verandah. Pramila said she had visited the Block Development Officer several times seeking help in the construction of the house, no action has been taken so far.

At the grievance hearing camp, she requested the officials to get her house constructed and some assistance so that she can feed her family.

When contacted, the disaster management officer Baitura Deep said all possible help would be extended soon to Pramila after an inquiry.
