Soro: The body of an unidentified woman was found at a farm in Sadhupada village of Mulisingh panchayat here in Balasore district Friday.
The woman, in her 30s, had a plaster on one of her hands. Pieces of broken bangles and tattered inner wear were recovered from the crime spot. Her neck bore strangulation marks while her nose had traces of foam, suggesting she might have been poisoned too.
Prima facie, available evidence suggests that she was brutally raped and murdered at a different location and later the body was dragged on to the farmland and dumped.
Villagers first spotted the body Friday in the crop fields and alerted the police.
“The woman’s body is badly battered and there are multiple injury marks on her neck, stomach and other parts. The body has been shifted to a local government hospital for post-mortem. The exact cause of her death will be known only after the arrival of the report,” said IIC of Soro Police station Dillip Kumar Sahoo.
The deceased is yet to be identified and investigation is on, police officials said.
