Nuagaon: A woman’s body was recovered from a well near Chuanbahal Badaik slum under Hatibari police limits of this block in Sundargarh district Friday.
The throat of this woman, aged about 33 years old, was found slit. After gathering circumstantial evidences police suspected the woman might have been raped before being murdered with a sharp weapon.
A woman of Nuanbahal Badaik slum fell in love with a man of Deogaon village under Sabdega block and they married some eight years ago. Over some reasons, she used to live at her father’s house for three years. Wednesday night the woman received a call and went outside after talking with someone. Though she did not return in night, her family members could not get an inkling of her going out as they were fast asleep due to wintry night.
The next morning, when she was not found an dher mobile phone was found to be switched off, the family members went around the village searching for him.
Towards evening, one of her chappals and inner clothes were spotted in a farmland and another chappal was found floated in a nearby well.
The woman’s brother immediately informed Nuagaon officer in charge Kailash Chandra Naik. The police and fire personnel reached at the spot and pumped out the water. However, the operation was left midway due to darkness. Friday morning, the fire personnel resumed the operation and found the body. The police seized the body for post mortem.
Registering a case, the police have launched an investigation.
