Mathili: One year has passed since a youth who had got his hip bone broken while working at a company in Hyderabad, but he is yet to get government aid.
Somanath Kape, a resident of Khairapali under Nayakguda panchayat of this block in Malkangiri district, had gone to Hyderabad and was working there at a construction company under a contractor last year. While working, a crank handle of a machine fell on Somanath injuring his hip bone.
He was rushed to a nearby government hospital where he was provided primary treatment. Then the company authorities got him discharged from the hospital and left him at his village as more money was required for his treatment.
Later, the family members of Somanath took him to Mathili Community Health Centre (CHC), but adopted traditional treatment due to poor financial condition. However, their attempt to cure Somanath with traditional therapy went in vain.
Apart from this, the poor family is unable to bear the medical expenses needed for further treatment. Unable to move, Somanath is bed-ridden at home.
Meanwhile, a youth leader of Malkangiri, Bashidhar Muduli, came to know about Somanath’s condition and visited him at Khairapali village. Muduli also held discussions with the chief district medical officer and other government officials in this regard.
After the intervention of Muduli, Lokanath Sahoo, president of Naveen Sena, Sushant Das, Raghunath Machur, Arabind Nayak, Benudhar Nag, Santosh Maharana and others, Somanath’s family members got a new hope for his advanced treatment.
On the other hand, Rajmani Kape, Somanath’s wife, has urged the district administration to look into the matter and take action for the treatment of her husband.
